Thomson Celebration – Wet docked quayside in Limassol, Cyprus during November 2014, for Thomson Cruises UK & Ireland, part of TUI Travel Plc under the supervision of Columbia Ship Management.

A short lead in time meant that design development, approvals, procurement of marine approved materials, manufacturing, shipping and labour mobilisation was necessary prior to the commencement of the refit. All joinery and materials were dispatched by sea in container format in preparation for the ships arrival. The McCue team of skilled marine joiners and tradesmen joined the ship for strip out on the voyage to wet dock, after being flown on a specially chartered Thomson Airbus A320 plane for the refit from the UK.

Project brief was to create an Asian themed A La Carte Restaurant off the main dining room to offer Indian and Chinese food for 40 covers, called ‘Kora La’. Liberties lounge and night club was also refurbished with new finishes and externally a new bar was prefabricated in McCue Marine’s 60,000ft2 joiner facility close to Belfast, for installation on the open deck to service a sitting area at the aft of the ship with new table and chairs. The project was delivered on a ‘turnkey’ basis to include steelwork, services, FF&E and artwork.
